FAMILY FARM HISTORY
Elmer Farms, LLC consists of both Beef and Swine operations. In 1956, Marvin and Marlene purchased the first farm on McDermott Rd in Albany Township from Elsie Abbey Elmer. This farm was a 140 acre dairy farm. Throughout the years there were many improvement and they purchased more acres.
Then in 1968, Marvin and Marlene purchased another farm from Frank Keehn. This farm is located on Brooklyn-Albany Rd and consist of 120 acres. They took the dairy barn and converted into a swine farrowing barn. Then in the spring of 1990, high winds destroyed the hay mow of the farrowing barn and a portion of the market hog barn. The farrowing barn was rebuilt and a hog finishing shed was erected. In 2001, Marvin and Marlene sold the farms to their sons, Scott & Steve.
For the next few years, Scott and Steve continued to milk, raise hogs, and crops. In 2011, Scott and Steve formed Elmer Farms LLC. In 2020, the Elmer brothers decided sell the dairy cows and added more steers. Currently they operate the beef and swine (farrow-to-finish) operation, own 520 acres and rent another 240 acres.
In an effort to diversify, in 2012 Elmer Meats LLC was formed to offer farm fresh pork to local customers. Then in 2020, we expanded Elmer Meats to add beef. Elmer Meats, sells whole/halves and individual cuts. Also new in 2020, Elmer Meats is teaming up with local vendors to help them to sell their products. We include these items in boxes each week. A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is also offered, providing delivery of a package either monthly or bimonthly.
Our two families run the daily farming operation and Elmer Meats LLC on our own. We are truly a family farm.
Thank you for business,
